Baker & Taylor, one of the world’s largest distributors of books to libraries worldwide, confirmed that it suffered a ransomware attack more than a week ago.
On August 23, the company servers were down after an outage that impacted their phone systems, offices, and service centers.
The library services provider revealed that disruptions to its business-critical systems stemmed from the incident would persist through the week while technical teams work on restoring impacted servers.
Baker & Taylor said in a statement that cyber-attacks are an increasing threat to all companies, and unfortunately, they have fell victim to a hacker’s attack. They assured that their IT team and outside experts are working nonstop to restore the systems.
As of now, there is no information on what ransomware group or affiliate is behind the attack or if the threat actors have stolen its data.
