Mollie, the European financial service provider, is joining forces with PayPal, in a move to deliver secure payment solutions for marketplace platforms across Europe.
Through this collaboration, Mollie will offer PayPal as a payment option to marketplaces in the European Union and in the UK. This aims to further enhance Mollie’s full payment solution offering, providing a range of payment options, including credit and debit cards, digital wallets, bank transfers, and local payment methods.
Mollie also supports buy now, pay later (BNPL) options and is the only provider to accept gift cards at multi-seller checkout, enabling the monetisation of gift cards in a marketplace setup. Through ‘Mollie Connect’, the PSP is aiming to help marketplaces drive revenue growth, while reducing operational costs.
“Mollie Connect helps businesses to minimise operational costs through support and onboarding, facilitating seamless scaling without the need for extensive coding or complex setups,” says Paul van der Boor, group product manager for partnerships at Mollie.
Itai Gross, CEO at fonQ.nl, also added: “Mollie Connect is easier to integrate than other market solutions because they have streamlined the feature set to focus on what is essential for our business, keeping things simple and efficient.”
Offering PayPal to marketplace customers
“Marketplaces have been a growing share of total e-commerce for years and an area of exciting innovation. The combination of Mollie’s strengths and PayPal’s seamless and secure consumer experiences is well-suited for the Marketplace segment. We are already seeing high demand and we expect to see continued strength from the collaboration”, says Guillaume Demier, senior director of partnerships, Europe, at PayPal.
This strategic collaboration with PayPal underscores Mollie’s commitment to delivering innovative and tailored payment solutions that drive the growth and success of marketplace businesses.
“By collaborating with PayPal, we are advancing our mission to simplify payments for platforms,” concludes van der Boor. “Marketplaces can now offer PayPal to their customers without requiring a separate PayPal integration and re-onboarding of all of their sellers. Instead, they can outsource all technical complexity and operational workload to Mollie. This allows the marketplace to focus on its core strengths, while Mollie handles all payment-related tasks, empowering marketplaces and SaaS platforms with seamless payment integration and monetisation.”
