The robotics industry is moving from static automation to systems that learn and adapt in dynamic environments. The upcoming RoboBusiness 2025 event in Silicon Valley will explore how physical AI, a combination of simulation, reinforcement learning, and real-world data, can accelerate deployment and improve reliability in applications like e-commerce and logistics.
One of the key sessions at RoboBusiness will feature Ambi Robotics’ PRIME-1 foundation model as a case study. Using advanced vision systems and AI trained on extensive warehouse data, the AmbiStack robotic system is able to play a version of 3D Tetris.
AmbiStack learns in a virtual environment, earning points for effectively stacking random items. This simulation-driven training and physical feedback allow robots to make decisions in real time.
Experts to explain how AI training is evolving for robotics
Prof. Ken Goldberg, UC Berkeley
Noted physical AI experts Prof. Ken Goldberg and Jeff Mahler will co-host the session. Prof. Goldberg is the William S. Floyd Jr. Distinguished Chair in Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. He is also director of the AUTOLab and CITRIS “People and Robots” Initiative.
In addition, Goldberg is chair of industrial engineering and operations research, with secondary appointments in UC Berkeley‘s Department of Electrical Engineering & Computer Sciences (EECS), Art Practice, the School of Information, and the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Radiation Oncology.
Jeff Mahler, CTO, Ambi Robotics
Mahler is co-founder and chief technology officer of Ambi Robotics, where he leads leads the development of AmbiOS, the company’s AI-powered operating system for robotic systems. He earned his Ph.D. at UC Berkeley as a member of Goldberg’s AUTOLab and BAIR Lab.
Goldberg and Mahler will offer insights into scalable approaches that drive the next generation of robotic manipulation. The session will show how simulation-driven training and physical feedback enable robots to handle diverse packages with speed and precision.
